#7253 Peking Chinese

This circa 1910 Peking Chinese Oriental rug measures 6’1” X 8’5”. It is a lovely pictorial of a rockery in pale green and ivory.  There is a large flowering tree growing out of it with water plants around it.  A well drawn crane is flapping its wings beneath the tree.  In the cloud filled sky are several nicely drawn butterflies with two pairs of birds and a large bat.  The bat (a harbinger of good luck) seems out of place but is there nonetheless.  All this is taking place on a dark blue ground.  The border is composed of blue and yellow cartouches containing Buddhist iconography.  The rug is full pile and mint condition.  The buyer pays shipping with insurance of $75.00.
