#7229 Peking Chinese Rug

This late 19^th century Peking Chinese Oriental rug measures 3’11” X 6’8”. It has an ivory ground with four Foo Lions and several pieces of Buddhist iconography such as books bound with ribbons, a chess board, a pen box, and a bat at each end thrown in for good luck.  It has a minor border in blue with a Pearl motif in ivory.  The major border is ivory with Chinese fretwork in three colors of blue.  The rug shows very minor wear.  When you are 125 years old, you will too.  This rug is very, very cute.  The buyer pays shipping with insurance of $60.00
