#7163 Peking Chinese Rug
This circa 1910 Peking weave Chinese rug with an Art Deco design
measures 93 X 116. It has a deep blue field with a very simple
design. The lower right corner has an open
pavilion on a cliff jutting over the water with a large palm tree behind and a rockery
below. Two boats are sailing away and one nosy
bird is above checking it all out. The lower
left corner is filled with nicely drawn flower branches in blue, purple, lavender, green,
pale brown, ivory and red. The other end of
the rug has a three-story pagoda over a waterfall with boats sailing by and a large tree
coming from a rockery to its right. The mate
to the aforementioned nosy bird is fluttering around this checking things out. To the left is a large group of flowering foliage
in the same aforementioned colors. The entire
rug is encompassed with a narrow border in burgundy red.
The major border is a camel hair color which serves the main purpose of
catching the overflow of the field motif. The
rug is essentially mint condition. The ends
and sides are complete. It is clean and ready
to go. The buyer pays shipping with insurance
of $125.00.
