#7161 Art Deco Chinese Rug This circa 1930 Art Deco Chinese rug measures 90 116. It has a medium cocoa colored field nicely covered in gigantic flowers and containers holding flowering plants, tables, and three cornered urns all very nicely drawn in three colors of blue, deep burgundy red, and burnt sienna surrounded by a burgundy border with meandering flowering plants, butterflies, potted plants, and shui symbols for good fortune. At the top end of the rug there is a table with an urn holding flowers. Next to this flower arrangement is a spotted cat standing on its hind legs with its back facing the viewer. Its front legs are up in the air against a wall. Between its legs it appears that the cat has turned its head and is looking at the viewer, complete with wide open blue eyes and eyebrows above a burgundy colored mouth and nose. This is one of the coolest things Ive ever seen in a Chinese rug. Its very cute. The rug has good pile and lustrous silky wool. The ends and sides are complete. It is clean and ready to go. The buyer pays shipping with insurance of $100.00
