#7091 Art Deco Chinese Carpet This circa 1920 Art Deco Chinese Oriental rug measures 90 X 118. It has a rich medium blue ground with two light blue circles. One contains a light purple vase with a flowering tree. The other has a wreath of leafs around it and two well drawn butterflies flitting within it. There is a large branch of wisteria coming from the right border into the field with green leaves dripping purple flowers as wisteria is wont to do. There is a nice hanging lamp done in purple in the shape of a beehive suspended from this branch. Two well drawn, very large, multi-colored butterflies are flitting around the field. This is all encompassed with a wide deep raspberry colored border containing Chinese symbols, flower sprigs, a blue and ivory striped butterfly and a very narrow shaft of what appears to be pussy willow around three sides of the carpet in ivory and orange terra-cotta. This rug is woven of the best belly wool. It is soft like velvet. It is essentially full pile. The ends and sides are complete. It is clean and ready to go. The buyer pays the shipping with insurance of $145.00. |
