#7082 Mongolian Rug

This circa 1940 Mongolian rug measures 3’3” X 5’7”. It is blue on blue surrounded by blue.  As you may have guessed, blue is the only color in this rug, of which there are three shades.  The center medallion is one of the many representations of ‘shui’ for good luck, and is flanked on either end in flowering branches in, what a shock, blue!  The corners are worked in Chinese fretwork pattern i.e. Greek key.  The first minor border going outward is in the Pearl design.  The next border out is split oak leaves forming triangles.  The main border is a slanted swastika running in two directions.   This border is bifurcated by another symbol for shui.  This form of shui is often found on Chinese money and means good fortune.  The rug is full pile.  It is clean and ready to go.  The buyer pays shipping with insurance of $75.00.
