#7081 Art Deco Chinese rug This circa 1920 Art Deco Chinese rug measures an oversized 1111 X 173. It has Mandarin weave and wool. The navy blue field has a nice empty design with large flower heads scattered through the field. There is a bouquet of flowers as a center medallion. There is a cute treatment at the bottom third of the rug at each end of the field. It is the way they have handled a hanging lantern motif by flanking it with two candelabras. These are done in two shades of pink with deep burgundy and highlights in light blue. The border is a two-phase treatment. There is an inner border in burnt orange and a major border which is about 1 foot wide and is in mahogany. The copious border decoration is composed of huge flowers, teapots, teacups, and tables holding potted flowers which are repeated around the outside of the rug. The rug has very good pile. This is a Mandarin Chinese rug with wool like velvet. It is very thick and plush. The rug is 99% mint condition. It is clean and ready to go. This is a very, very elegant carpet. It will absolutely dress up any room! The buyer pays the shipping with insurance of $300.00.
