#6985 Art Deco Chinese

This circa 1925 Art Deco Chinese rug measures 3’0” x 5’0”. It has a flute player on the right and a servant holding a platter of pastry on the left.  A very lovely woman in a pink kimono is trying to decide if she should eat or dance.  Tough choice.  A large flowering tree in the background is providing shade for this moment in time.   Above and behind this bucolic scene  four eunuchs scurry about their business. Above all this is a smiling rich old man standing on a platform giving the day’s orders to the chief eunuch under a cloud swept sky.  At least that is what I see.  All this is on a black ground encompassed with a fretwork border.  The colors are pink, pale green, camel, rust, coral, blue-gray, and aqua.  This rug is mint condition.  Perfect.  The buyer pays the shipping of $50.00.
