#6975 Peking Chinese Rug

This circa 1890 Peking Chinese rug measures 7’3” X 3’8”. It has a light camel hair   field with the great scenic motif.  In the lower left is a rockery coming out of the border with trees and flowers.  In the right lower corner there is a water feature with junques sailing in large waves.  To the left is a large leaping horse carrying the head of a dreaming man.  The dream is pictured as a cloud rising with a large pagoda inside.  Castles in the air?  Above all this is a rockery with a forest scene.  In the center is another rockery with large lotus blossoms and flowering branches.  Birds and butterflies sail across the field.  It has a navy blue border with bells, books, incense burners, vases with flowers, etc. The rug is in essentially mint condition.  There is a brown dye that has corroded in a few places.  This is natural in a rug of this type and age.  The rug has very nice silky wool.  The rug has a sleeve sewn on the back for hanging and has probably not seen the floor for years.  The buyer pays the shipping of $60.00.
