#6942 Khorassan This is circa 1880 Khorassan measures 101 X 173. It has a large lobed pulled medallion with a sky blue center surrounded by peach, filled with meandering vines and flowers and large chrysanthemums, all on a navy blue ground. The ground design is vases filled with flowers connected vertically with a tree of life motif. The corners are made-up of quarters of the medallion. The border is peach with a meandering vine and flower motif. The two reciprocal borderers have the same design on an ivory ground. This is a very interesting rug. It is absolutely full pile except for areas of the peach. This dye was obviously made with a corrosive mordant which has caused the wool to erode in places. Even so this rug is 95% full pile. The ends and sides are complete. It is clean and ready to go. It is a very good value for the money. The buyer pays the shipping of $150.00. *Image is too large for frame. Rug is complete. |
