#6921 Mahajaran Sarouk This circa 1910 antique Persian Mahajaran Sarouk measures 120 X 180. It has an overall design of cedar trees, urns of flowers, flowering trees, flowering branches, potted trees and bushes; in other words, it is a veritable garden. All is on a deep maroon ground. The border, or shall we call it, the fence around this garden, consists of cedar trees in gold and green separating meandering vines and blossoms, on a deep blue ground. The reciprocal borders are in a dark maroon and yellow gold. The several shades of green in this rug going from sage to dark emerald green are very well saturated. Now here comes the best part, this is a Museum deascension and has been in storage for over 50 years! This very finely woven, 156 KPSI, practically 100 year old antique Sarouk has the appearance of never having been walked upon. The wool is of the absolute highest quality and the rug is mint, mint, mint condition. This rug is full pile. The ends have never even been overcast. The buyer pays the shipping and insurance. *Note: The rug is too large to fit in the photo frame so we have attached two pictures of the rug , one showing the top half and one showing the bottom half of the rug. |
