#6849 Turkish Sparta
This circa 1890 Turkish Sparta measures 122 X
206. It has a camel hair background with corners worked in rose as is the
center medallion. It has an overall tree motif
very reminiscent of a Tabriz. The rug has a
unique design. There is no name for it. It has
three squares of various shades of brown, blue and rose with wavy lines which run up each
side. The two at either end are incorporated
into a rectilinear device which incorporates the corners.
The center is rectilinear with devices coming out of each face filled with the same
wavy lines. The design of the rug actually
forms a cross. There are so many ins and outs
and ups and downs of this rug that it looks like an Escher painting. This is a unique
one-of-a-kind fantastic rug. The rug shows
wear. The buyer pays a shipping of $250.00.
