#6827 Indo Chinese Rug

This circa 1880 Indo Chinese rug measures 6'8" X 8'6".It has a yellow gold field with five circular medallions. The medallions have chasing dragons on an aubergine ground ala’ Ningxia. The sacred mountain is depicted at the four compass points of the interior border. The border is made up of a wave design in red. The minor border has a grey ground with ivory and aubergine floral motif. The major border is deep yellow gold with various circles each with a different interior motif. This is very like Ningxia. Actually if the rug had a different knot, I would call it Ningxia. The ends and sides are intact. It is clean and ready to go. It show obvious wear but it is quite lovely.
