#6788 Art Deco Chinese Rug
This 19th century Peking Chinese Art Deco design rug measures 4’.0” x 6’.9”. It is one of the most fanciful Chinese rugs I have ever seen. It has a phoenix bird perched atop a large blue rockery in the center of the lake with ducks swimming on it. This is overlooking the shoreline where there is a large crane on one leg with trees and birds flying around and perched in the trees silhouetted against the sky. The border is composed of cartouches containing flowers and various bits of Chinese iconography such as the conch shell, spinning wheel, and the bell. There is a fish and Chinese fretwork. All in all this is simply a fantastic bit of woven art. The rug is an absolute mint condition. The buyer pays the shipping of $50.00.
