#6624 Armenian Kazak This 19th century Armenian Kazak measures 52 X 69. It has all the properties of a great Armenian rug starting with its minimalist content. The colors and design firmly place this rug in the Armenian category. The tomato red ground has a single navy blue medallion with quadrupeds in the field and four light blue rectangles in the corners of the field. The interior border has well saturated green triangles opposing tomato red triangles in the sawtooth pattern. The next border out is on a navy blue ground and has definite ChiChi influences. The outer borders are truly wonderful. The long sides have a wonderful use of negative space in tomato red and green, like something youd see in a Khotan. Now the fun part the two short borders are not only totally different from the edges but are quite a bit different from each other, exposing something Ive never seen in any Armenian rug before, three different border motifs. There are a couple of professional reweaves which are invisible from the face of the rug. The rug is full pile. The ends and sides are complete and original. This rug is a wonderful example of minimalist nomad art. The buyer pays the shipping and insurance of 45.00. |
