#6621 Kazak This circa 1880 antique Kazak measures 40 X 71. It has five latch hook medallions in dark blue, sea foam green, sky blue and tomato red on a black and dark blue ground completely covered with small crosses and flower heads. There are eight quadrupeds (antelopes and horses). The major border has a cherry red ground with a latch hook motif in two shades of blue, peach and sea foam green. The outer minor border is very interesting. The sides are done in an abstract blue bird in full flight on a black ground. The ends are done in an open circular fretwork that Ive never seen before. The inner border has a meandering vine and star motif on an ivory ground. The ends and sides are complete. There is a complete kilim extant at the upper end. It is essentially full pile. The brown in the field is starting to go down. The natural black wool in the borders is full pile. This is a remarkably lovely rug. All veg dyes! Fabulous condition! Unique design! The buyer pays the shipping and insurance of 50.00.
