#6585 Tafshanjian Sarouk
This circa 1910 Tafshanjian (signed) Sarouk Carpet measures
116 X 162. It has an overall design on a deep red maroon field.
The design is rather unique in that the field is enclosed in a border of cartouches
containing flower heads and vines. All four corners have vases with a tree of life motif.
Further in towards the center at each corner there is a horn of plenty with a bouquet of
flowers coming in to the center with flowering vines. There are also two blue rhomboids
looking like stained glass windows. The colors in the rug are blue, green, pale rose and
gold. The major border has an intricate Kashan style motif of flowering urns. Inside the
main blossom heads are small trees. It is a very intricate pattern. Each extreme corner of
the field contains an Islamic double square. The rug is made of the finest
