#6441 Art Deco Chinese Rug
This circa 1910 Peking weave Art Deco Chinese rug measures
80 X 98. It has a very deep rose to red background with a single
tree growing out of rocks at the base of the rug adjacent to a pagoda on a bridge with
flowering trees. The central tree twists through the field to the top of the rug with
flowers in green and purple and leafs in two shades of blue. There is a beautiful hanging
lantern suspended from the lower branches of the tree. There is a willow tree coming in
from the border in green, blue and black. The field is encompassed with a wide indigo blue
border with rocks out of which are growing bamboo with flowering branches at opposite
corners in blue brown green and purple. The other corners have a beautiful rendering of a
flowering branch motif. The center of the border has two round lanterns hanging from a
tree growing out of a rock. The blue border is encompassed by a thin green border inside
and an outer border which is the same color as the field. The rug is cork wool (like
velvet). The ends and sides are complete. The rug is clean and ready to go. This rug is
essentially perfect. The buyer pays the shipping of 125.00
