#6145 Art Deco Chinese This vintage Art Deco Chinese rug from the 1930’s measures 9’ X 11’3”. It has a magical ethereal quality to it. The design is dreamlike. The base of the rug has a three rail bamboo fence. Lillies are growing at one end of the fence, and the other end of the fence becomes a flowering tree. A large brown rock bordering a lake gives birth to a blue tree. At the lower center are ripples of water with a lunar reflection, directly below the top where there is a ball depicting the sun, in my mind, therefore, completing the ying and the yang. Up the left hand side of the pale sand field is a dark brown rock down which water is flowing. On top of the rock we see a fabulous vase of flowers that have obviously been picked from the flowering tree to the right of the rock. Next to this vase is a very elegant urn on a stand out of which is wafting blue smoke. In the exact center is a phoenix bird. The entire rug is encompassed by a solid Prussian blue border. The only low spot in the pile of this rug is photographed. Otherwise, the rug is full pile. The ends and sides are intact. It is clean and ready to go.
