#6058 Peking Chinese This circa 1880 Peking Chinese rug measures 12’1” X 14’5”. It has an ivory field with a very empty design of only a center medallion which is a sprig of foliage. This is encompassed with a very pale tan to brown border which is 14” wide with designs of plants that remain inside the border at all four corners and up the sides. The designs are in shades of blue and black and have flowers that are in peach and blue. There is one orange flower. All the designs are slightly different, lending a very nice asymmetry to a type of rug that is not known for that. This rug is 125 years old. There is some wear, as to be expected, with it’s age. This is a very hard to find size. This rug is truly very lovely in a quiet and serene way. The buyer pays the shipping and insurance of 200.00. * This rug is slightly folded in on itself so the entire carpet will fit in the picture.
