#5369 Malayer

This Malayer measures 5’4” X 11’4”.  This rug is done in the Bakshaish design with four medallions up the center of a rose ground, with paler rose botehs repeated through the field. It has ivory triangles coming in from the corner and along each side the length of the field.  The major border has a blue ground with flower head and vine design with two sets of reciprocals, one in yellow with meandering flower heads and one in brown with interconnected rhomboids. The rug shows wear in the field and has an artificial fringe at each end. The sides have been overcast. This rug is circa 1880. The buyer pays the s&I of 45.00.
